At Scrap Central, we believe in turning metal recycling into meaningful community impact. Our initiatives connect environmental responsibility with local support, creating lasting positive change in Omaha, Lincoln and surrounding communities. Making the environment a top priority requires strong community support, and we're grateful to all our partners who have helped drive this mission forward over the years.

Annual Holiday Lights Recycling Drive

Brighter holidays. Cleaner landfills. Stronger communities.

Since inception, we’ve diverted more than 117,000 lbs of holiday lights from local landfills and raised $50,000 (and counting) for community partners.

2025 Drive Details

Dates: November 15, 2025 - January 10, 2025

Lincoln Locations: Eastridge Elementary School parking lot, Lincoln Children's Zoo overflow parking lot, ALL Lincoln Fire & Rescue Fire Stations

Omaha Location: Scrap Central facility

Supporting: Eastridge Elementary PTO, Lincoln Fire Fighters Operation Warm, Science Focus Program Booster Club

How It Works: Gather your old or broken holiday lights and drop them off at designated locations. We process the lights and recover the copper chops. All proceeds go directly to participating organizations. You help divert waste from landfills while supporting local causes.

Lights can be in working or non-working condition.
